Company size
Generali Group is one of the world’s largest insurers. Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) is its dedicated corporate and specialty insurance unit, serving medium-large companies in 180+ countries.
Summary
Generali GC&C partnered with Sixfold to embed AI directly into its cyber underwriting workflow as submission volumes grew. With 90%+ adoption, most cyber submissions are now accelerated and turnaround times have been cut in half.

Background

Generali is one of the world's largest integrated insurance and asset management groups, operating in over 50 countries. As the company expanded its cyber insurance book across new markets, demand surged. Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) – the global business unit serving medium-large companies and brokers in over 180 countries – needed to scale without compromising underwriting quality.

Challenges

Generali GC&C' cyberteam was experiencing exactly what successful teams want: increased submission volume. But with the rising number of submissions came a natural challenge: how to maintain the underwriting excellence Generali is known for while meeting increased market demand, without significantly expanding operational costs.

Three priorities emerged:

1. Shift underwriter time from data gathering to risk assessment
2. Deliver faster broker responses without sacrificing quality
3. Scale capacity efficiently as submission volumes grew

"Sixfold gives me a clear and structured view of risk information, helping me focus on the most relevant details and make informed underwriting decisions faster.”

— Pavlo Stohniienko, Senior Cyber Underwriter @Generali GC&C

Solution

After evaluating multiple AI providers, Generali GC&C selected Sixfold as their first external AI partner, a significant milestone aligned with GC&C's 2025–2027 strategic plan to drive excellence and efficiency through technological innovation.

The decision came down to three factors:

  • Sixfold consistently delivered accurate and relevant risk insights aligned to Generali GC&C’s unique underwriting guidelines
  • The platform was built for the complexity of underwriting and could easily be integrated into Generali GC&C’s already existing underwriting tools
  • Sixfold's product roadmap offered a clear path to further autonomous underwriting capabilities

Sixfold integrated directly into Generali GC&C’s regular underwriting process, connecting with their cyber data sources and scoring system to become a core component of their rating workflow by structuring all available risk information in a dashboard available to the underwriter to support quicker informed decisions.

The results were immediate: over 90% of underwriters actively adopted the platform, reporting consistently high accuracy scores.

Results

Today, most Cyber submissions are accelerated through the Sixfold solution, cutting turnaround times for our distribution channels by 50%. As a result, the GC&C’s underwriting team can manage higher submission volumes without compromising assessment quality, while brokers benefit from faster responses without sacrificing underwriting rigor.

The use of Sixfold also accelerates Cyber Risk Engineering activities, enabling the risk engineering team to produce reports in just a few hours compared to the previous ~ 2-day manual review process.
